SUP World Cup racing resumes in Agios Nikolaos with 100m sprint events

The Agios Nikolaos on SUP 2026 event returned to competitive racing on Tuesday, September 22, following a rest day on Monday, with the SUP World Cup continuing through the Sprint 100m event.

The World Cup competition had opened on Sunday, September 20, with a Long Distance race that served as a joint event for both the Paddle Europe SUP Championships and the SUP World Cup. Once the European championship concluded, racing continued on Tuesday solely under the SUP World Cup.

Organizers said a total of 107 athletes took part in the Sprint races, competing across the Junior, Open, Masters 40+ and Masters 50+ categories in a day marked by fast heats and close finishes.

Two paddlers who had stood out in previous days again took the top spots: Romanian athlete Matei Barbu and Italian athlete Cecilia Pampinella, both of whom had won European Sprint titles days earlier and returned to the top of the podium in Tuesday’s races.

The event follows the earlier stage of the championships, which opened in Agios Nikolaos with 100m sprint races before moving into longer-distance competition.
