Strong north winds up to 8 Beaufort forecast for Crete on Saturday, bringing cold and local rain

Crete will see strong north winds, increased cloud cover and a chance of local rain in the north of the island on Saturday, November 7, according to weather forecasts reported by neakriti.gr. Winds are expected to reach 6 to 7 Beaufort, with gusts of up to 8 Beaufort possible over sea areas southeast of the island.
Cold conditions are expected to persist, particularly in the early morning and evening hours, with temperatures staying low for the season. According to ERTnews meteorologist Olga Papavgouli, the cold spell will continue across much of Greece on Saturday, with temperatures dropping slightly further.
Crete: strong north winds, cloud and possible rain
Intermittent cloud cover is forecast for Crete, with a chance of a few local showers, mainly in the northern parts of the island. Where they occur, the showers are not expected to be particularly intense, while strong winds will continue to affect mainly coastal and sea areas.
Temperatures are expected to remain low for the season, with indicative values for the island ranging from 12 to 17 degrees Celsius, according to available forecast data. Conditions will be colder in mountainous areas. The cold will be most noticeable in the early morning and after sunset, with the strengthened north winds adding to the chill.
Temperatures also drop across the rest of Greece
Elsewhere in the country, increased cloud cover is expected on Saturday, with local rain in the eastern mainland, the Peloponnese and the Ionian region. In western Greece, the rain will be linked to a shallow low-pressure system approaching from Italy, though no particularly heavy rainfall is expected.
North winds will remain strong in the Aegean and the eastern mainland, reaching 6 to 7 Beaufort, while in the Ionian winds will gradually shift to easterly and southeasterly, with weak to moderate intensity. Maximum temperatures will fall slightly, ranging between 13 and 16 degrees in the east and 16 to 20 degrees in western Greece. The cold will be especially noticeable in the morning and evening, with single-digit temperatures in several mainland areas. Frost is expected in the mountains of northern Greece, with some snowfall possible at higher elevations where rain occurs.
Sunday: north winds persist, new conditions in the west
On Sunday, November 8, strong north winds will continue to affect the Aegean, reaching 6 to 7 Beaufort. Crete is expected to see periods of sunshine, with temperatures remaining relatively low. Rain and possibly isolated storms are forecast for the Ionian, with conditions expected to spread to parts of western and northwestern mainland Greece by the afternoon. East and southeast winds in the Ionian will strengthen, reaching 7 and locally 8 Beaufort in the northern part of the region. Temperatures will drop slightly further, with maximum values in several areas ranging from 12 to 15 degrees Celsius.
Change expected from next week
A gradual shift in weather conditions is expected to begin on Monday, with north winds in the Aegean weakening and temperatures starting to recover, initially in the south. Rain will affect parts of western, central and northern Greece, while the chance of isolated storms remains in the Ionian. By the middle of next week, a noticeable rise in temperature is forecast, with maximum values in some areas expected to exceed 20 degrees Celsius. A mild transport of Saharan dust cannot be ruled out, as atmospheric conditions are expected to favor warmer air masses.
