Region of Crete joins Greek Tourism Workshop in Rotterdam

The Region of Crete took part in the Greek Tourism Workshop, a professional trade event held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, as part of its tourism promotion programme for 2026. More than 55 tour operators, travel agencies and airlines attended the event, according to the Region of Crete.
Attendees showed strong interest in information about Crete’s nature, culture and well-known gastronomy, the region said. Dutch travellers are increasingly drawn to authentic experiences, the region added, with many preferring to discover lesser-known spots within a destination.
Cretan tourism authorities have pursued several promotional initiatives through 2026. The Rotterdam workshop follows the Rethymno Tourism Summit 2026, which opened registration earlier this year for industry professionals.
Interest in local food culture was also evident during the Rotterdam meetings. Similar themes have surfaced closer to home, where Lasithi restaurants offer customers a different olive oil experience as part of efforts to promote Cretan culinary traditions.
Demand for authentic travel is increasingly shaping how the island is marketed abroad. That trend is reflected in curated Experiences in Crete that highlight local customs and natural landscapes.
