Robotic & Science Academy holds free technology festival for families in Heraklion on September 27

The Robotic & Science Academy will hold the RSA Technology Festival 2026, a free, open event centered on robotics, science and new technologies, at Amnisiades Park in Karteros on Sunday, September 27, from 10:00 to 15:00. Entry is free for all visitors.

According to the organizers, the event is designed for children and parents alike, offering the chance to build robots step by step, program them, take part in missions, and join collaborative technology challenges. No prior experience with robotics is required to participate.

Activities planned

The festival program includes interactive robotics and programming workshops for parents and children, robotic missions and technology challenges, tracks with direct participation from families, robot soccer and small competitions, live demonstrations of robotic builds, and family cooperation activities. It will also feature selected competitive experiences drawn from the international MRC Global Olympiad, according to the organizers.

Educational systems and technology platforms on display are expected to include LEGO, VEX, Makerzoid, ZMRobot, Ozobot, Maqueen, mBot, drones, VR and AI, presented through activities adapted to different ages and skill levels, the academy said.

Marking ten years in Crete

The organizers said this year’s festival marks ten years of continuous educational activity by the Robotic & Science Academy in Crete, a period they describe as including competitive experiences, international participations and awards. To mark the anniversary, the academy said it is opening the event to the wider public and inviting families to take part.

The festival adds to a run of free family-oriented gatherings in the Heraklion area this year, including the 3rd Little Hands Festival held earlier in September. Further listings for family activities and gatherings across the island can be found on the Events in Crete page.
