European Week of Sport’s ‘All Crete Blue-Green’ program to bring free wellness events to Chania and Heraklion

From September 23 to October 2, 2026, Chania and Heraklion will host a series of free sport, wellness and educational activities as part of the European program “All Crete Blue-Green,” held alongside the European Week of Sport 2026.
According to the organizers, “All Crete Blue-Green” links sport with education, mental health, inclusion and environmental protection. The program aims to encourage more people to exercise, try new forms of physical activity and experience the benefits of contact with the sea, green spaces and the community.
Residents of Chania and Heraklion are invited to take part in activities, talks and hands-on workshops as part of the initiative.
What the program includes
Organizers say the schedule includes more than 45 open sessions covering exercise, sport and wellness across Chania and Heraklion, along with 30 talks delivered in Greek and English in both cities. Activities are aimed at people of all ages, including children, teenagers, adults, people with disabilities, and older residents. Speakers, trainers and organizations from Greece and 10 other European countries are taking part.
The activities will take place at outdoor and public venues in Chania and Heraklion, while the talks will be held at KAM – Megalo Arsenali in Chania and at Metropolitan College in Heraklion. All activities and talks are free to attend, according to the organizers.
The “All Crete Blue-Green” project is co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Sport program and is being carried out with support from the Region of Crete.
The program falls within the broader calendar of events in Crete this autumn, offering visitors and residents a range of experiences in Crete centered on outdoor activity and wellbeing.
