Magnitude 4 earthquake strikes sea area between Kasos and Crete

A magnitude 4 earthquake, described as “weak,” struck the sea area between Kasos and Crete at 1:33 a.m., according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.

The epicenter was located 21 kilometers west-southwest of Kasos, or 395 kilometers southeast of Athens, the institute said. The focal depth was calculated at 18.6 kilometers.

No damage or injuries were reported following the tremor. Crete has recorded several seismic events in recent weeks, including a magnitude 4.1 earthquake near Rethymno and a magnitude 3.8 earthquake north of Lasithi.
