Crete to see highs near 27C Saturday with local rain in mountains, Meteo forecasts

Crete will see temperatures ranging from 12 to 27 degrees Celsius on Saturday, October 10, with scattered clouds and local rain expected mainly in mountainous areas, according to a forecast issued by Meteo.
The forecast describes conditions as warmer than usual for the season across the country, combined with the possibility of local storms. In Crete and the mountainous parts of mainland Evia, rain and possible thunderstorms are expected to be more frequent and intense around midday and in the afternoon.
Winds and visibility
Winds across the southern Aegean, which includes Crete, are forecast to blow from western directions at 2 to 4 Beaufort, according to Meteo. More broadly, forecasters say winds elsewhere in the country will remain in the same range, from 2 to 4 Beaufort, with variable directions depending on the region.
Meteo also reported relatively elevated dust concentrations in the atmosphere over mainland Greece and the Ionian Sea, which it said could locally limit visibility until the morning hours.
Temperatures across the country
According to the same forecast, temperatures elsewhere in Greece on Saturday are expected to range from 9 to 24 degrees Celsius in western Macedonia, 10 to 29 in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace, 15 to 28 in Thessaly, 11 to 25 in Epirus, 13 to 27 in Sterea Ellada and the Peloponnese, 15 to 24 in the Ionian islands, 10 to 28 in the northern and eastern Aegean islands, 11 to 26 in the Cyclades, and 19 to 25 in the Dodecanese.
In Athens, temperatures in the city center are forecast to reach between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius, with scattered clouds and the possibility of local rain and sporadic storms from midday, mainly in the northern parts of the region. Thessaloniki is expected to see similar conditions, with temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
The forecast follows a notable temperature drop recorded across Crete on October 9, when the island registered some of the lowest readings in the country.
