Crete records Greece’s lowest temperatures on October 9, meteo.gr data shows

Crete recorded the lowest temperatures in Greece on Thursday, October 9, with the coldest readings concentrated in the regions of Lasithi and Chania, according to data from meteo.gr.
The lowest reading on the island was recorded in Tzermiado, in Lasithi, at 2.9°C, meteo.gr reported. Askyfou, in the Sfakia area, followed with 4.7°C, while Therisso, in Chania, recorded 6.1°C.
Sharp contrast with daytime highs
Despite the overnight lows in Crete’s mountainous areas, Heraklion recorded a temperature of 27°C, highlighting a sharp contrast across the island between coastal and highland conditions. The cold snap follows a stretch of sunny, mild weather earlier in the week, when Crete saw sunshine and warmth on Thursday with highs forecast near 26°C.
Earlier in the week, forecasters had also pointed to generally settled conditions, with sunny skies and scattered afternoon cloud expected on Wednesday, before temperatures dropped sharply in the island’s interior.
