Crete to see sunshine and warmth Thursday, with highs near 26C, EMY forecasts

Crete is forecast to have sunny, warm weather on Thursday, October 8, with temperatures ranging from 11C to 26C, according to the National Meteorological Service (EMY), as reported by Meteo.
Nationally, clouds are expected over the northwest and will gradually spread to the rest of the western and northern regions. Local rain and possibly scattered storms are forecast for the North Ionian Sea, and from midday in parts of the rest of the Ionian, Epirus, Western Sterea and Western Macedonia.
Sunny conditions elsewhere
The rest of the country is expected to see sunshine with only a few local clouds at times, similar to the conditions EMY forecast for Crete the previous day. Visibility will be reduced in places during the morning.
By region, EMY forecasts temperatures of 5 to 24C in Western Macedonia, 8 to 26C in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace, 10 to 28C in Thessaly, 8 to 24C in Epirus, 7 to 28C in Sterea and the Peloponnese, 10 to 23C in the Ionian islands, 9 to 23C in the North and East Aegean islands, 12 to 25C in the Cyclades, 16 to 23C in the Dodecanese, and 11 to 26C in Crete.
Winds pick up from the south
Winds in the Central and North Aegean are expected to start from variable directions at 2 to 4 Beaufort, gradually shifting to southerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort by the afternoon. In the South Aegean, winds will blow from westerly directions at 2 to 4 Beaufort, also becoming 3 to 5 Beaufort from the afternoon. In the Ionian Sea, winds are forecast from the south at 2 to 4 Beaufort, strengthening to 3 to 5 Beaufort in the northern parts.
Warm, sunny conditions are typical for the autumn season on Crete, making this a favourable window for visiting the island’s beaches before cooler weather sets in.
