Crete forecast: clear skies and highs up to 34°C on Monday, August 17

The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) forecasts generally clear skies across Crete on Monday, August 17, 2026, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 30°C, and locally up to 33-34°C in the south of the island, according to a report by CretaOne.

Winds are expected to blow from northerly directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort, locally reaching 6 Beaufort, before shifting to westerly directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort from the afternoon onward.

National outlook

Across most of Greece, EMY forecasts generally fair weather with a slight rise in temperatures, sunshine dominating most regions. Temporary cloud cover is expected around midday and in the afternoon over mainland areas, particularly in the mountains of western Greece, where local rain showers are possible and isolated storms cannot be ruled out.

Temperatures nationwide are expected to reach 30 to 34 degrees Celsius in most areas, with the mercury locally touching 35 to 36 degrees in parts of the mainland.

Winds in western areas will blow from westerly directions, and from northerly directions in the east, at an intensity of 3 to 5 Beaufort. In the Aegean, winds will locally reach 6 Beaufort, while in the Dodecanese they may briefly touch 7 Beaufort in the morning before gradually weakening.
