Malevizi Festival opens September 4 in Gazi with free three-day program

The Municipality of Malevizi will hold the 4th Malevizi Festival on September 4, 5 and 6, 2026, turning Mich. Katsamanis square in Gazi into an open-air stage for three days of music, culture and local traditions, the municipality said.

According to the announcement, the festival aims to offer entertainment while also showcasing Malevizi’s products, traditions, culture and people. Artists, musical groups and local cultural associations are set to take part in the event, one of several festivals taking place across Crete this events season.

Opening night program

The festival will open at 19:00 on Friday, September 4. Local cultural associations will present regional products, tastes, creations and experiential activities, offering visitors what organizers describe as an authentic Malevizi experience.

At 20:15, singer Sotiris Margaritis will perform with the Despicables Band. Singer Konstantina Touni is scheduled to take the stage at 22:15, with a program described as spanning songs and rhythms from across Greece.

The municipality said admission to all events of the 4th Malevizi Festival is free. Detailed programming for the festival’s second and third days, September 5 and 6, was not specified in the announcement.

The festival adds to a busy late-summer calendar of cultural events in Crete, following celebrations such as the Eftazymo Festival in Kastamonitsa and the free concerts held as part of Platanias’s cultural festival earlier in August.
