Cruise ship Azura brings over 3,000 passengers to Chania’s Souda port
The cruise ship Azura docked at Souda port in Chania on Saturday morning, August 29, carrying 3,276 passengers, according to port sources.
The arrival is the latest in a series of increased cruise traffic at the port of Souda in recent weeks. The vessel is scheduled to remain in Chania until 5 p.m. before continuing its itinerary.
After leaving Chania, the Azura’s next stop is Piraeus, followed by Mykonos on August 31 and Heraklion on September 1, according to the reported schedule.
The visit adds to a broader pattern of rising visitor numbers to Chania this year, with the region’s international arrivals climbing as reported in Crete’s 7.2% rise in international air arrivals for 2026. Cruise calls at Souda represent a separate but complementary source of visitor traffic to the region alongside air arrivals tracked across Crete’s air arrivals figures for the first seven months of the year.
