Chersonisos municipality holds week of “Days of Tourism” events from September 22
The Municipality of Chersonisos will hold a series of events under the banner “Days of Tourism 2026” from September 22 to 28, organized by the municipality’s Deputy Mayor of Tourism office. The events aim to highlight the area’s tradition, culture and local identity, with activities planned across all of the municipality’s communities.
According to the municipality, the program is designed to connect residents and visitors with authentic local experiences. Events of this kind form part of a broader calendar of events in Crete held throughout the year to showcase regional culture.
Schedule of events
The events open on September 22 in Stalida, at Agios Ioannis Square. The following day, September 23, activities take place in Kokkini Hani, on Dimokratias Avenue opposite the “Diagnosis” medical center. On September 24, events move to Analipsi, in the courtyard of the Church of Agia Marina, while Malia hosts activities on September 25 at Agios Ioannis Square.
The program concludes on September 28 with events at Ano Chersonisos Square and the Open Air Theatre of Agia Paraskevi in Limenas Chersonisou. All events begin at 9:00 p.m., except for the closing event in Ano Chersonisos, which starts at 8:00 p.m.
Mayor of Chersonisos Zacharias Doxastakis said tourism represents “a daily relationship with the place and its people” for the municipality. He added that this year’s events show that Chersonisos “can evolve, make use of technology, and remain true to its character,” thanking those who support the effort and contribute to shaping a municipality that continues to play a leading role in Greek tourism.
The initiative reflects the municipality’s broader promotion of local experiences in Crete tied to traditional customs and community life across its five participating communities.
