Agios Nikolaos port to host Cretan Cooking Festival on September 24

The Port of Agios Nikolaos will host the “Cretan Cooking Festival 2026” (Κρητικά Μαγειρέματα) on Thursday, September 24, 2026, organizers said, timing the event to coincide with World Tourism Day. The festival is scheduled to begin at 18:00.

According to organizers, the event brings together tourism and hospitality professionals, cultural associations, local producers and traditional performers, presenting Cretan gastronomy as a way of promoting the island’s culture and heritage.

Visitors will reportedly be able to take part in hands-on workshops and sample local products, rather than simply observe demonstrations, organizers said. The festival aims to give attendees exposure to Cretan ingredients, native varieties and flavors through an interactive format.

Music program

The festival’s musical program is set to feature the band of Manolis Rasidakis, the traditional ensemble of the Music School of Lasithi, and the Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Agios Nikolaos, according to the announcement. Niki Beladaki is listed as the event’s presenter.

Organizers describe the festival as an opportunity to showcase Cretan hospitality and cultural heritage alongside the island’s food traditions. The event joins a wider calendar of cultural gatherings across Crete this year, including the Eftazymo Festival in Kastamonitsa and the Malevizi Festival in Gazi.

Details on ticketing or admission were not specified in the announcement. Readers can find further listings of upcoming events in Crete for the coming weeks.
