Region of Crete festival hosts Mozart piano recital in Heraklion on Tuesday

The Region of Crete’s festival is presenting a piano recital dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, marking 270 years since the composer’s birth (1756–2026), performed by pianist Aris Graikousis. The event will take place on Tuesday, August 11, starting at 9 p.m. at the Kipotheatro “Manos Hatzidakis” in Heraklion, with free admission.

According to the festival organizers, the program features selected works highlighting Mozart’s enduring genius and the balance in his music between clarity and emotion, grace and dramatic intensity. The piano is described as narrating an inner musical journey, bringing out the expressiveness and hidden complexity behind the apparent simplicity of the pieces.

Graikousis approaches Mozart’s work with what organizers describe as a contemporary, personal perspective, emphasizing the human core and lasting power of the composer’s music. The event is presented as an anniversary evening inviting the public to experience Mozart’s music live within the setting of Heraklion’s Venetian Walls.
