Chania airport passenger traffic rises 5.6% in July, Fraport Greece reports

Passenger traffic at Chania’s “Daskalogiannis” airport rose 5.6% in July 2026 compared with the same month last year, according to figures released by Fraport Greece. The airport handled a total of 791,120 passengers, about 42,000 more than in July 2025, reflecting strong tourist arrivals at the peak of the summer season.

According to Fraport Greece’s detailed breakdown for July, after Greece itself, the United Kingdom accounted for the largest number of passengers, with 112,205, followed by Germany with 77,719, Norway with 75,784, Denmark with 73,958 and Poland with 65,236.

The Scandinavian market remained strong overall: alongside Norway and Denmark, Sweden recorded 47,238 passengers and Finland 32,475. Other significant source markets included Italy with 40,572 passengers, France with 24,678, Belgium with 15,600, the Netherlands with 15,034 and Austria with 14,471.

In total, July saw 403,754 arrivals and 384,550 departures, and together with 2,816 transit passengers, overall traffic reached 791,120 passengers, Fraport Greece said.
