Lilium Luxury Suites

Lilium Luxury Suites is a 15-room hotel on the seafront road at Agia Marina, 20 km west of Chania, and it carries the highest Booking.com score in this batch. Lilium scores 9.7 on Booking.com across 120 reviews and 4.4 on Tripadvisor across 16, and that gap between the two platforms is the thing to understand before booking. The suites are large, the beach is across the road, and the road is the catch.

Location
Lilium Luxury Suites is located at Agia Marina Nea Kydonias. The map below shows the exact spot; Google Maps and Waze give turn-by-turn directions.
Who Lilium suits, and who should skip it
Lilium suits couples and small families who want a large, recently built suite with a sea view, a supermarket downstairs and sand across the street, at a price well below the resorts further west. It suits guests who sleep through traffic. Anyone who needs a quiet room, a pool or the seclusion the word suites suggests should book away from the coast road.
Advantages
- 9.7 on Booking.com across 120 reviews, exceptional for 15 rooms
- Staff and cleanliness both scored 9.8 by Booking.com guests
- Agia Marina Beach 300 ft away, described by guests as fine sand with space
- Suites guests call far larger than expected, with wide private balconies
- KNX room controls for lights, curtains and air conditioning
- Free parking, a lift, and a supermarket in the same building
Disadvantages
- 4.4 on Tripadvisor across 16 reviews, with 1 rated Terrible
- Road noise, raised by guests in the rooms facing the street
- Privacy is limited, since the access road doubles as a public passage
- Older rooms sit alongside the newer superior block, per guest reports
- No pool and no restaurant beyond breakfast
- Only 16 Tripadvisor reviews, so that platform adds little confidence
The rooms: 15 keys, and which block you land in
Lilium runs 15 rooms across three categories: Executive Suite, Superior Suite with Sea View, and Double Room with Garden View. Guests describe the suites as very large, with calm colours, wide balconies and a KNX control system for the lights, curtains and climate, which is unusual at this size and price and comes up in review after review.
Ask which block your room sits in. One guest who stayed in a superior sea view suite reports that their part of the building was quite new while the rest seemed older, so the category name matters less than the block. Request a sea view suite on an upper floor, away from the road, and confirm the request in writing before arrival.
The road, the beach and the honest reading of two scores
The hotel faces the Agia Marina coast road, and that single fact explains both its strengths and its complaints. The beach is a two-minute walk across the street, restaurants and supermarkets sit within 500 ft, and the bus into Chania stops nearby, which is why guests rate the location 9.4 on Booking.com. The same position brings traffic noise into the front rooms, and one reviewer notes that the access road is used by people passing through rather than guests alone.
The two platforms disagree and the sample sizes explain most of it. Booking.com has 120 reviews averaging 9.7; Tripadvisor has 16 averaging 4.4, with 11 at Excellent and 1 at Terrible. One poor review moves a 16-review average a long way, so the Booking figure is the more reliable of the two, but the Tripadvisor complaints are specific rather than vague, and they are about noise, privacy and the older rooms.
One exchange in the record is worth reading before you book a rate. A guest reported being asked to pay for breakfast they believed was included, and the hotel replied publicly that the booking was 51 euro a night in high season, a rate too low to include the buffet. Check what your rate covers at the time of booking, because the property clearly prices breakfast separately on the cheapest deals.
How to get there
Fly into Chania airport (CHQ), about 35 km east on the Akrotiri peninsula, roughly 40 minutes by road. Agia Marina sits on the coast road west of Chania, between Stalos and Platanias.
Pre-book a transfer for the arrival, since the coast road is slow in high summer and the hotel has arranged airport taxis for guests who asked; the operators are in our guide to taxi and transfer services in Crete. Hire a car if you want Balos, Elafonissi or the Samaria gorge, and check the deposit terms in our car hire guide for Crete. Within Agia Marina the beach, tavernas and bus stop are all walkable.
The Crete Locals review
Lilium earns 8.6 from us. A 9.7 across 120 Booking.com reviews is the strongest score in this batch, and the sub-scores show where it comes from: 9.8 for staff and 9.8 for cleanliness, which are the two things a 15-room owner-run hotel can control completely.
What you are buying is room quality at a modest price. The suites are large, well finished and fitted with controls most four-star hotels on this coast do not have, and the sand is across the road. For a couple who want space and a sea view rather than facilities, that is a good trade at 115 euro a night.
We hold the score below 9 for two reasons. The Tripadvisor record, small as it is, carries a Terrible review and repeated notes about road noise and privacy, and guests report that the rooms are not all of the same vintage. Both are fixable by asking for a newer sea-view suite on a high floor, and neither is a reason to avoid the hotel, but they belong on the page.
Book Lilium for a couple’s week at Agia Marina in a superior sea view suite on an upper floor, and check whether breakfast is in your rate. Book further west at Platanias or Gerani if traffic noise would spoil the week.
