West of the village Rogdia a small gorge is formed that exits at the area of Paliokastro. The route starts from the old watermill of Koukos, on the main road connecting Rogdia to Achlada, and descends to the most impressive part of it, the 10m high waterfall Rechtra, reached via a quite steep descent with ropes. Descending the gorge, we come by some small waterfalls, the cavernous chapel of Panagia Spiliotissa, and reach the beach of Paliokastro.
What causes a great impression is that in the middle of the gorge, there is a cave that has been transformed into a workshop for painting Christian icons by a hagiographer, right in the middle of nowhere. It is great to pay a visit there and talk to the man. see the icons and maybe buy some.
The fall can also be accessed easily by ascending the gorge from Paliokastro.
