About Aposelemis beach
Aposelemis is a river that flows 19km east of Heraklion, between Analipsi and Gouves, and is one of the most important wetlands in north Crete. The pond formed near the beach is a natural habitat for many migratory birds and rare animals. At the exit of Aposelemis, a beautiful sandy beach with shallow cool waters is formed. Although it is very close to big hotels and tourist areas, the beach is not very well organized, compared to the best beaches in the area. There are a few umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach.
To get to the beach there are two alternative routes to follow. The first is to drive to the beach of Analipsi and then follow the coastal road heading to the west. After a few meters and after passing the rocky shores of the region, you will reach the long beach of Aposelemis. Instead, you can follow the coastal road of Kato Gouves, up to its east end, where the road turns right and comes along the walls of a hotel. Apposelemis beach is located right on the opposite side of the hotel, next to the soccer field of Gouves.
