Small ponds form where the stream gathers water from the Drakona area, and Cyclamen Gorge takes about 2 hours from Aletrouvari or 1 hour from Agios Georgios, which puts it beyond novice hikers.
2. Drive the Therisso Gorge. The canyon lies 4.2 km from the village and runs six kilometres between vertical cliffs and heavy greenery. A car gets you through Therisso Gorge, which pairs naturally with the village at its southern end.
3. Visit Theriso, a village 5.3 km from Gerolakkos at the base of the White Mountains, reached by a winding 6-kilometre climb up the gorge on a narrow but fully asphalted road. Just over 100 people live in Theriso, which was the birthplace of Eleftherios Venizelos’s mother and the launch point of his 1905 revolution, and its tavernas and coffeehouses sit under tall plane trees.
