Petsofas Peak Sanctuary

Petsofas peak can be found near Palekastro, situated above the archaeological site of Roussolakos. During the Minoan era, a peak sanctuary was established here, where rituals involved the placement of clay figurines representing cattle, men, and women.
A notable characteristic of Petsofas is that it was initially almost naturally formed with minimal architectural modifications. Eventually, the temple was replaced by a five-room structure, with one wall still standing at a height of 1.80 meters. The inclusion of a building is a typical feature of the few peak sanctuaries that were not deserted after the conclusion of the Middle Bronze Age.
