Crete forecast: sunshine and northerly winds Tuesday, temperatures up to 35°C

The National Meteorological Service (EMY) forecasts generally clear skies over Crete on Tuesday, September 1, with north winds reaching up to 6 Beaufort and temperatures climbing to as much as 35°C in the south of the island, according to a report by CretaOne.

Winds across Crete are expected to blow from northerly directions at 4 to 6 Beaufort. Temperatures are forecast to range from 22°C to 32°C generally, with localized highs of 34°C to 35°C in southern parts of the island. As of early Tuesday morning, Heraklion was recording a temperature of 27°C.

National outlook

EMY describes conditions across the rest of Greece as generally clear, though temporary cloudiness is expected over western and northern mainland areas around midday and in the afternoon, bringing local showers over mountainous terrain. National high temperatures are forecast to reach 34°C to 36°C in most mainland regions, with the mercury peaking at 36°C in parts of the Ionian Islands, Epirus, western Sterea and the western Peloponnese.

In Attica, winds are forecast to be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort, veering northeasterly up to 5 Beaufort in eastern areas, with temperatures between 23°C and 35°C. Thessaloniki is expected to see mostly clear skies with a few brief cloud formations, and temperatures ranging from 21°C to 33°C.

Tuesday’s conditions follow a similarly warm and breezy forecast for Monday, when highs reached 36°C to 37°C with winds up to 7 Beaufort. With warm, sunny conditions persisting, visitors checking conditions at beaches around Crete should expect calm, clear weather through the day.
