Ano Zakros Minoan villa

The Minoan villa of Zakros was unearthed in 1965 by N. Platon and I. Sakellarakis close to the town of Ano Zakros, along the road leading to Kato Zakros beach. This rural villa featured comprehensive facilities for wine production, bearing great resemblance to contemporary ones, and large jars for wine storage. The wine press can be seen at the Archaeological Museum of Sitia.
