Crete forecast: clear skies and highs of 30°C expected Thursday, EMY says

Crete will have generally clear skies and sunshine on Thursday, September 10, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 30°C, according to Greece’s National Meteorological Service (EMY).

Across the rest of the country, EMY forecasts mostly clear conditions, though the agency said the summer-like weather pattern is expected to hold for only a few more days. Temporary cloud cover is expected in the afternoon over mainland areas, mainly in the west, where local showers and possibly isolated storms are forecast in the mountains of Epirus. Visibility will be locally reduced in western areas during the morning, but EMY said these conditions will be short-lived and skies will clear quickly by evening.

Winds and regional temperatures

Winds will blow from the west at 3 to 4 Beaufort in western Greece and from the north at 4 to 5 Beaufort in the east, reaching locally 6 Beaufort in the central Aegean, EMY said.

On the mainland, temperatures will see a slight rise in some areas, reaching 32 to 34°C in most regions and locally touching 35°C. On the islands, highs are expected between 28 and 31°C, with the Dodecanese locally reaching 32°C. In Attica, EMY forecasts clear skies with temperatures between 21 and 33°C, while Thessaloniki is expected to see clear conditions with temperatures ranging from 19 to 30°C.

The forecast follows a stretch of clear, dry weather across Crete in recent days, with clear skies and northerly meltemi winds reported earlier in the week. A separate report indicated that Crete is expected to see milder cooling than mainland Greece as the season progresses toward autumn.
