Agios Nikolaos Mountaineering Club to join 44th Pancretan Mountaineering Meeting in Rouvas forest

The Agios Nikolaos Mountaineering Club will take part in the 44th Pancretan Mountaineering Meeting, set to take place in the Rouvas forest on September 5-6, 2026, hosted by the Mountaineering Association of Moires (E.O.S. Moiron), according to an announcement from the host association.
The Agios Nikolaos club, working with the Sitia Mountaineering and Skiing Federation (Φ.ΟΡ.Σ. Σητείας), said it will organize a bus from Sitia for members wishing to attend. The bus fare is set at €50, with a separate €12 registration fee for the event itself. Participants will stay in tents at the meeting’s designated camping area.
Weekend program
According to the schedule released by E.O.S. Moiron, groups will arrive and register on the afternoon of Saturday, September 5, followed in the evening by welcoming remarks from participating clubs, dinner and a celebration.
On Sunday, September 6, organizers plan a breakfast followed by two hikes of differing difficulty, both starting from the Rouvas forest. The routes will run to and from the town of Gergeri, with stops planned along the way at points of interest, the announcement said.
Those interested in registering for the trip can contact Maria Metzogiannaki at 6973363701 or Argyris Sfendourakis at 6973357549. Further details are available on the Agios Nikolaos Mountaineering Club’s blog.
The event is one of several hikes and gatherings the club has organized in recent months, part of a broader calendar of outdoor experiences in Crete that regularly draws participants from across the island.
