The floating sea deck is the image the resort leads with, sunbeds moored over the clear Akrotiri water off the rocky platform coast, and it is honest shorthand for the shoreline: swimming here is ladders and platforms, with sandy Stavros, where Zorba danced, a kilometre along.
Three pools stack behind the deck, the Soma Spa runs the Domes wellness grammar, evening entertainment fills the terraces, and the a la carte venues sit inside the wristband. Chania’s harbour is the 15-minute escape, and the Akrotiri monasteries make the one cultural morning easy.

Aulus Chania is the coast’s serial reinventor, and we review the pattern as much as the property. Four names in roughly a decade, Cretan Pearl to Mr & Mrs White to Isla Brown to Aulus, is a headland searching for its operator, and the April 2026 arrival of Domes, whose Aulus Elounda and Zeen and Noruz we rate well, is the most credible custodian yet. What Domes inherited is genuinely good: the sea deck is among western Crete’s best single features, the sleep and room scores clear the bar, and the staff earn by-name affection even inside 3-star reviews. What it also inherited is the file, sunbed mathematics that never balanced, wristband dining that undersold its tier, housekeeping at 4.4, and a Booking score of 7.9 that averages the whole Isla Brown era into the present.
