Trapped workers exit Samaria Gorge, Chaniotika Nea reports

Workers who had been trapped inside Samaria Gorge in Chania following storm damage have exited the gorge, according to a report by Chaniotika Nea.
Background
The workers had been stranded since flooding and storm damage blocked their exit route earlier in the week, part of wider destruction that hit Crete during the recent storm. Authorities had organized a rescue effort to move the eight trapped workers out of the gorge, scheduled for Wednesday.
The same storm had earlier left sections of the route damaged, after workers described a path destroyed by the storm and said reopening this year was in doubt.
Chaniotika Nea did not provide further details on how the workers left the gorge or their current condition. Samaria is one of the most visited gorges in Crete and remains closed to the public following the storm damage.
