Sisi harbor hosts World Tourism Day event dedicated to Cretan gastronomy

The Municipality of Agios Nikolaos and the Sisi Development Association, co-organized by the Region of Crete, held an event at Sisi harbor on Saturday, September 26, 2026, to mark World Tourism Day, organizers said.

This year’s celebration was dedicated to Cretan gastronomy, offering residents and visitors dishes provided by five local hotels: Vasia Hotels, Enorme Hotels, Maritimo Beach Hotel, Grecotel Meli Palace, and Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort, according to organizers.

The evening’s musical program featured a Cretan ensemble made up of Manolis Kokolakis, Dimitris Kokolakis, Dimitris Kalliorakis and Nasos Moutaftsidis, with performances by the “Kountouris” Cretan Dance School. Doors opened at 18:00, organizers said.

Part of wider tourism-day activities in the area

The Sisi event follows a broader series of tourism-related activities in the Agios Nikolaos area this month. The municipality also staged the Cretan Cooking Festival 2026, which drew more than 2,500 visitors to the Agios Nikolaos harbor earlier in September.

Agios Nikolaos separately held a World Tourism Day tribute event in Elounda, part of the municipality’s wider program marking the international day, cretelocals.com previously reported.

The Sisi harbor gathering forms part of a wider calendar of events in Crete tied to seasonal tourism promotion, spotlighting local food, music and dance traditions.
