Heraklion Go app for city transport debuts at public event on September 17

The Municipality of Heraklion will present a new smart mobility application called Heraklion Go at a public event on Thursday, September 17, at 10:00 in the portico of the Loggia.

According to the municipality, Heraklion Go is a free app that can be installed on mobile phones to help users move around the city quickly and easily. It combines bus travel, taxis, walking and other means of transport, suggesting routes and estimated travel times.

During the launch event, participants will be able to use the app to take part in educational, experience-based games, the municipality said.

Organizers and background

The event is organized by the Deputy Mayoralty of Finance and Development Planning, through the Directorate of Planning, Organization and Information Technology and the Departments of European Programs and Information Technology. The city has separately proposed a subsidized monthly bus pass for students as part of broader efforts to improve local transport options.

The municipality said Heraklion Go was developed as part of the SPINE-HORIZON program, described as an initiative for “Smart Initiatives for Public Transport for Climate Neutral Cities in Europe.”
