Free entry to museums, archaeological sites and monuments in Greece this weekend

Admission to state-run archaeological sites, museums and monuments across Greece will be free on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, 2026, according to the Ministry of Culture. The free entry applies to sites, museums and monuments that fall under state management.

The ministry also lists a set of recurring dates throughout the year when entry is free at the same venues. These include March 6, marking the anniversary of actress and former culture minister Melina Mercouri’s death; April 18, International Monuments Day; and May 18, International Museums Day.

Free admission also applies during the last weekend of September each year, coinciding with European Heritage Days, and on October 28, a Greek national holiday. In addition, entry is free on the first and third Sunday of every month from November 1 through March 31.
