Crete forecast: sunshine gives way to afternoon inland clouds Saturday, coast reaches 29°C

Crete will see largely sunny conditions on Saturday, September 19, 2026, though clouds are expected to build over inland areas by the afternoon, according to the forecast published by meteo.gr.
Autumn-like conditions are becoming more established on the island as the days pass, with temperatures generally staying below 30°C and sunshine less intense than in recent weeks, cretalive.gr reported. Along the south coast, however, temperatures will climb during peak afternoon hours, reaching as high as 29°C, before clouds thicken over the interior later in the day.
National outlook
Across Greece, meteo.gr forecasts sunshine over most of the country on Saturday, with temporary clouds and local rain expected around midday and in the afternoon over the mountainous mainland areas of Epirus, West Macedonia, Thessaly, Central Greece and possibly the Peloponnese. The transport of Saharan dust in the atmosphere will continue but at low concentrations over the Dodecanese.
According to meteo.gr’s regional breakdown, temperatures on Crete are expected to range between 11°C and 31°C. Elsewhere, West Macedonia will see 12–28°C, the rest of Macedonia and Thrace 11–32°C, Epirus 13–30°C, Thessaly 12–33°C, central mainland areas 12–32°C, the Peloponnese 11–30°C, the Ionian islands 16–30°C, the North and Northeast Aegean islands 14–30°C, and the remaining Aegean islands 19–31°C.
Winds will blow from the northeast at 3–4 Beaufort over the North Aegean, and from the north to northwest at 3–4 Beaufort, locally reaching 5 Beaufort, over the South Aegean during the morning, meteo.gr said. From midday, winds are expected to shift to north-northwest across the North Aegean as well, while the Ionian Sea will see weak winds mainly from the west.
In Attica, sunshine with temporary clouds is forecast, with weak winds of 2–3 Beaufort mainly from the north-northeast and temperatures between 13°C and 31°C. In Thessaloniki, clear skies with temporary clouds are expected during the day, with winds from the south-southeast at 2–3 Beaufort and locally up to 4 Beaufort, and temperatures ranging from 16°C to 32°C.
The forecast comes as temperatures across Crete are expected to ease toward a colder shift next week, following a pattern in which meteorologists have said Crete could see milder cooling than the Greek mainland as autumn conditions set in more broadly across the country.
