Chania postpones Traditional Strata event due to weather

The Municipality of Chania has postponed the Traditional Strata event that had been scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2026, citing adverse weather conditions and rainfall.

The event was set to feature the participation of the Chania Dance Group “Psiloritis” and the Blood Donors Association of Chania “Agios Ioannis.” It is one of several events in Crete affected by unsettled conditions this week.

According to the municipality, a new date for the event will be announced in a follow-up statement.

The postponement comes as unstable weather moves across the region. Meteorologists have forecast autumn-like clouds and local rain over Crete on Tuesday, prompting other precautionary measures, including the closure of both entrances to the Samaria Gorge due to a weather warning.
