About Agios Vasilios and Skotini beaches

In the area between Ravdoucha and Nopigia, several secluded coves with small beaches are formed, mainly with pebbles and rocky bottom. From Nopigia the road runs along the coast through a spectacular seascape till the church of Panagia Myrtidiotissa at position Choni and stops a little further.
From there we can walk to the restored chapel of Saint Basil located on the beach. To get there we initially ascend along a very bad dirt road on foot and then walk down to the beach with the chapel located approximately in the middle. The beach has large pebbles and beautiful rocky bottom.

North of Agios Vasilios, a small stream is formed that we can reach on foot from the Ravdoucha area. At the exit of the stream, the tiny pebble beach of Skotini is formed, one of the most beautiful secret beaches in West Crete.
A few meters further north, on the tip of a peninsula, there are traces of the iron ore mine that operated here in the early 20th century. In the sea still stands the base of the loading platform. Previously there was a small settlement inhabited by the workers of the mines that today is deserted.
