Agapi Beach runs about 321 rooms across 16 categories in two main buildings, a bungalow village in the gardens and a set of suites, and the difference between the two generations of room is the sharpest split in the whole review file.
Sea View and Premium rooms in the main building were renovated in 2025 and guests describe them as fresh. The bungalows were not, and that is where the cramped bathrooms, missing sockets and terrace compressors appear. Book a renovated main-building category if sleep and plumbing matter more to you than walking straight out into the garden, and ask for a floor away from the road-facing corridors. There are no swim-up rooms here: the Exclusive Bungalow Pool Front is pool-adjacent, not swim-up. Our own listing long showed this resort at 25 rooms, which is wrong by a factor of thirteen, and the correction is part of this review.
Four kitchens, three pools and an app instead of a wristband
Dining is the resort’s strength and its bottleneck at once: Mediterraneo’s buffet with an open kitchen, the beachfront Seaside Taverna, Taka-Taka for street food and Dolce Vita for Italian by the pool, with themed buffets rotating every fortnight.
Three outdoor freshwater pools, one of them heated out of season, plus a paddling pool, sit in mature gardens above a private sandy beach with showers and changing cabins. The sea here is open with no breakwaters, so expect wind and chop on many days. Facilities cover an Aegeo Spa with sauna, jacuzzi and hammam, a floodlit tennis court, beach volleyball, yoga and pilates on the lawn, a watersports centre and a 120-seat meeting room. The detail guests appreciate most is administrative: your all-inclusive status lives in an app behind a QR code, and a la carte tables are booked there too, so nobody wears a plastic band all week.

A 4.5 across 1,883 reviews with 1,214 marked excellent is a large, settled sample, and the recurring detail that the general manager clears tables himself tells you more about a resort than any star count. Cleanliness at 9.2, reliable sunbeds, long food service hours and a beach taverna guests rate above the buffet all point the same way.
The limits are physical rather than cultural. A main restaurant sized for a smaller hotel and a pool that is modest for 321 rooms produce the same complaint every summer, and no amount of goodwill fixes a room’s dimensions. Long-staying guests say management knows, which is honest, and the fortnightly themed menus and extended hours are clearly attempts to spread the load. The bungalows are the other soft spot: renovating the main building in 2025 and leaving compressors humming on bungalow terraces has made the gap between categories wider, not narrower.
Two points of accuracy for anyone comparing hotels on this stretch. This is a four-star resort and prices like one, at about 250 euros a night in July, so it should not be read against the five-star properties nearby. And although it joined Grecotel in the 1990s, that link is historical: ownership passed to the Sbokos family’s ENFAE in April 2022, with Phaea Resorts still handling sales and revenue.
Book Agapi Beach for a family or couples week in June or September: a renovated Sea View room in the main building, the Seaside Taverna booked in the app on arrival, dinner early rather than at 19:00, and a hire car for Knossos before the coaches. Bring the wind into your expectations and the beach will still be the best part of the day.
