Just outside the village of Zhou in the Sitia province, a large Minoan agrepavlis (rural mansion) was discovered by the archaeological team led by Nikolaos Platon in 1955-1956. The mansion featured numerous rooms, including resting rooms, workshops, living rooms, a furnace, and more. Unfortunately, part of the site was destroyed during road construction. This two-storey building dates back to 2000BC -1600BC. Additionally, a nearby cave was discovered and found to have been used as a grave.
