Tourist injured in leg near exit of Imbros Gorge in Chania, rescued by firefighters

The fire service was alerted around midday on Sunday, October 18, after a tourist was injured in the leg while hiking Imbros Gorge in Chania, according to CretaOne.
The woman was reportedly close to the gorge’s exit when the injury occurred and needed assistance to complete the route safely, CretaOne reported.
Four firefighters from the Anopolis Fire Station responded to the scene, arriving in two vehicles, according to the report.
Crews transported the tourist out of the gorge, after which she was handed over to paramedics from the National Emergency Aid Center (EKAV), CretaOne said.
The rescue is the latest in a series of hiking-related incidents reported in Crete’s gorges this season, including a case in which a Polish family lost in a Rethymno gorge was later found safe by rescuers, and an incident in which a German tourist fell off a cliff while hiking in Sfakia.
