The Unexplored Chania: An Alternative Bike Tour:
In this 3-hour afternoon bicycle tour you will be able to discover Chania’s essential landmarks which are located outside the limits of the old city. These sights are missed by most visitors but they play an important role in the history of the city. We will still enjoy the sunset together in the atmospheric area of Tabakaria.
Historic buildings Beyond Chania’s Walls:
Discover landmarks including the city clock, the Italian barracks, the garden of Chania and the impressive court building. With our unique bicycle tour, you will be able to admire all the emblematic buildings of the city that are outside the walls and have played an important role in the history of the city of Chania.
Discover Halepa, the aristocratic district of Chania and the atmospheric Tabakaria:
Halepa is the aristocratic district of Chania, it houses important attractions such as the church of Agia Magdaleni, the house of Eleftherios Venizelos and other historical buildings of the city. In Halepa are also the atmospheric Tabakaria (Tanneries) and in this area we will enjoy a unique sunset.

We’ve thoughtfully planned our bike tours to take you through less touristic areas experience parks and squares frequented by locals. Please be comfortable cycling in city traffic for the best experience.
Discover the beauty surrounding Rethymno as you cycle along the coastline. Just before you start the journey uphill, you will make your first stop at the Arsani Monastery. From there you will continue uphill through the olive groves, passing small picturesque villages before making your next stop to the village of Amnatos.
There you can admire the mansion of Sanguinazzo, where you will discover above its main door the inscription which states “Initium sapientiae timor Domini”. Your next stop is the Arkadi Monastery, which boasts a rich and prestigious history. You can learn about the resistance of the local people and the heroic acts of the monks, which will help you understand the significant role they played during the Greek revolution against the Ottomans.
Following the monastery, you will be spoiled with a selection of traditional dishes in a traditional taverna. Due to the elevated location, you will also have breathtaking panoramic views over Rethymno and the Mediterranean Coast whilst you dine. Following lunch, you’ll ride towards Pigi Village and make a final stop at Adele, before slowly making your way back to your starting point.
The start point is west of Heraklion from the beach of Ammoudara and head south towards the hinterland of Crete. After leaving the urban area behind us, entering a rural area full of vineyards and olive groves. On one side of the route people can see the holy mountain of Yioukta and on the other the highest mountain of Crete, Psiloritis. The first village on the way is Gournes and after a few kilometers is the village of Athanati. The road becomes uphill until the almost uninhabited village of Xirolia. Riding west and after a few kilometers the group will reach the capital of wine in Crete, the village of Dafnes. Here the well-known wine festival takes place every year in July.
In this area there are many wineries that produce the best wines of Crete. Here the group of the bikers will taste 4 different wines, accompanied by Cretan cheese, rusks and olives. After the tasting the bikes will be left there and the group will go by car back to the starting point.
This e-bike tour is possible to be done by everybody who is able to ride a bike. It is 24 km long and the net riding time ist about 90 minutes.
If it has rained recently, then the route will change, because the previous route has some dirt roads and there will be mud.

After a short safety introduction, jump on your bike and travel through low-traffic roads to the countryside following a route of farmer and quiet tarmac roads. Go uphill on rural smooth dirt tracks and back downhill on asphalt roads.
