Coast guard rescues 33 migrants off southern Gavdos
A boat carrying approximately 33 migrants was located on Saturday in the sea area about 16 nautical miles south of Gavdos, according to Greece’s coast guard.
The migrants were rescued by a passing tanker flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, the coast guard said.
They were later transferred to the port of Gavdos.
The coast guard reported northwesterly winds of 4-5 Beaufort in the area at the time of the rescue.
