Second Festival of Fountains brings violinist Giannis Sfakianos to Kritsa’s Chaniotena fountain

The Municipality of Agios Nikolaos will hold the next stop of its “2nd Festival of Fountains” on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Chaniotena fountain in Kritsa, starting at 21:00.
The event will present the recorded work of Cretan musician and violinist Giannis Sfakianos, titled “Feggarostrata,” released in May 2026. According to the organizers, the album draws on the forms of Cretan traditional music with influences from the Eastern Mediterranean and includes collaborations with Giannis Charoulis and Giorgis Xylouris (known as Psarogiorgis).
Lineup
Performing musicians are Giannis Sfakianos on violin, Haris Laoureisen on lute, and Haris Bakas on percussion. Giorgis Xylouris (Psarogiorgis) and Giannis Charoulis are listed as guest performers.
Organization
The festival stop in Kritsa is organized by the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos together with the local community of Kritsa and the Kritsa cultural association “Lato,” with the Region of Crete as co-organizer. The performance is part of a wider cultural calendar this summer that has also included the Region of Crete’s free theatre performances in villages across the island and its “Tradition and Memory” concert series planned for September. Further listings for cultural gatherings can be found under Events in Crete.
