Heraklion Paves Roads and Maintains Green Spaces and Street Lighting

The Municipality of Heraklion is currently carrying out asphalt paving, road-safety works and maintenance of green spaces and street lighting across the city and its villages, the municipality said. The Deputy Mayor’s Office for Technical Works and Green Spaces coordinates the program.
Road-safety works begin at the FORTH access road
Road-safety works have started along the road to the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH), the municipality said. Crews are building a new pavement from the roundabout on the Heraklion–Voutes provincial road to the entrance of the institution, where a raised pedestrian crossing will be built. The municipality’s Technical Service has already completed the road signage and installed reflective road studs, known locally as cat’s eyes.
Asphalt paving continues on Ikarou and Nathena streets
Milling and asphalt paving continue on Ikarou Avenue, from its junction with Steliou Kazantzidi Avenue to the junction with Mafsolou Street. The works are estimated to last 8 days and run in sections in each lane, so the avenue stays open to traffic.
On Nathena Street, the preliminary works are complete and milling and asphalt paving start on Wednesday, 5 August. The Nathena works run from the junction with Knossou Avenue to the junction with Ermi Street and are estimated to last 5 days.
Green and street-lighting maintenance continue across the municipality
Green-space maintenance and street-lighting maintenance continue at a steady pace in several areas of the Municipality of Heraklion, the municipality said. The crews work both in the city and in the surrounding villages.
