The few most popular gorges to hike in Lasithi regions are:

  • Ha Gorge is a canyon on the eastern part of the island of Crete in Greece, located in the west slope of Thrypti mountain and near Monastiraki village. The gorge is about 1.5km long, particularly narrow at several points and has walls rising up to 300m. Ha is considered to be one of the wildest gorges in Crete and one of the most difficult to cross.
  • The gorge of Richtis is located in Lasithi Prefecture, on the north side of Crete, between Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. The trail starts just outside Exo Mouliana village and ends on Richtis beach, east of Kalavros village . Even in summer, there enough water in Richtis for local crops due it being fed by Drymias peak (918m) through Lachanas & Mesa Mouliana streams which merge near its starting point.
  • The beautiful gorge of Milonas or Agios Ioannis is located 18km east of Ierapetra. It starts near the village Agios Ioannis, at an altitude of 500m, and exits on the beach Kakia Skala. The most imposing wild part of the gorge has 4 high waterfalls, thus canyoning equipment is necessary for exploring that all.
