Crete forecast: clear skies, temperatures reach 34°C on Friday, August 21

Greece’s National Meteorological Service (EMY) forecasts generally clear skies over Crete on Friday, August 21, with temperatures climbing to as high as 34°C, according to Cretalive.
Winds will blow from northerly directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort, shifting to westerly directions in the afternoon at 3 to 5 Beaufort, EMY said. Temperatures across the island are expected to range between 22°C and 33°C, reaching 34°C locally.
The forecast follows a similar pattern from the previous day. On Thursday, August 20, EMY had predicted clear skies with highs up to 33°C across Crete.
Temperatures had already been on an upward trend earlier in the week. A meteorologist had said the heat would rise from Wednesday with a sharper increase from Friday onward, a pattern reflected in Friday’s forecast.
The heat and winds of up to 5 Beaufort coincide with a day the fire service has rated as high wildfire risk for Friday, August 21, according to its fire danger map.
Weather elsewhere in Greece
EMY forecast generally clear skies across the rest of the country on Friday, with some clouds increasing temporarily over the mountains of western Macedonia during midday and afternoon hours, potentially bringing local rain or showers. Winds elsewhere were forecast to be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort, northeasterly at 3 to 4, locally 5 Beaufort in eastern areas. Temperatures nationwide were expected to range from 20°C to 36°C, with central Macedonia reaching 37°C to 38°C locally.
